SPLATTER SPLATTER WE NEED TO BE SAFE! WHO'S WITH ME
WE NEED TO BE SAFE!
We must be a safe community. Don’t you think?
We must change the speed limit around Tautoro. Added on to this, I think we should also get pathways and pedestrian crossings. Why? For the safety of kids when they cross the road. Who’s with me?
My first main reason is to get footpaths on the side of the road for the kids.
After school has finished kids walk home. Since there are no footpaths for them to walk on, they walk on the road. What if a big truck came past and the truck hit that person and did not know. WOW! SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN! That is outrageous. We need footpaths to keep fellow students safe A.S.A.P.
My second main reason is to have pedestrian crossings .
So when they cross the road they will be safe and happy. Would you want to cross a road with a pedestrian crossing or a dreadful road with no pedestrian crossing with a chance of you getting hurt or even losing your life. We should stay safe and have pedestrian crossings around our community in Tautoro. Now that’s what I’m talking about.
My Third main reason is to change the speed limit.
Every time out of Kaikohe or even in Tautoro the speed limit is now horrible. People are going over 100 kilometres per hour. I think we should change the speed limit to 70 or under, to keep people and kids safe. For example, what if someone was speeding and a student or adult popped out of nowhere, Bang! It would be a tragic accident.
In summary, we must make Tautoro a safe community so that there will be NO accidents.
LET'S BE SAFE NOW!

Shake Out
On Tuesday we got a visitor from the Civil Defence , a lady named Annmarie and she brought her dog Mazook. They came to talk to us about how to protect us in a earthquakes. She played a sound of a earthquake When you hear that sound you have to drop cover and hold. She also was showing us balancing and was telling us that the ground goes like a rolling wave.
When you're in an earthquake you can hear the cracking and rumbling sounds.
In An earthquake you need to curl into a ball just in case if something drops that way your legs will not get trapped. If you're out and not close to a table or anything you have to curl into a ball and put one hand on your head and the other hand on your neck.
Mazook is like a rescue dog. If you want to know more about earthquakes you can search the internet. It was a awesome day learning more about earthquakes and how to protect yourself.
